Inside my dressing room

I have some events coming up this summer and I’ve been sniffing around for some new dresses for the occasions.

I’ve also been considering rent the runway and found a FABULOUS dress on their site, but then I figure – what if it doesn’t fit?  what if it just doesn’t look as good as I thought it would?  and of course 1 big consideration – at the end of the day I’d be paying my hard earned $$ to wear a dress 1 time and send it right back…

So – while I’m considering RTR, I’m also browsing dress sales.  The 3 below are ones I tried at TJ Maxx, and I am letting you in the dressing room with me to see how it went!

I love the unique sexiness of the black cutout dress and could wear it for fancy girls nights out and my boyfriend’s upcoming 30th birthday (don’t tell him I told you… hope he doesn’t read this!).

The second pic of the blue dress didn’t really do the outfit justice.  The silhouette of the dress is beautiful and the color is eye-catching.  This one I’m considering wearing to a wedding.

The final grey dress was a no for me simply because it just didn’t fit.  It was much too big and there were no other sizes available, so I had to say farewell to it.  I did really love the sparkle trim and the “come hither” back though.

Do you have a favorite?  Do you agree with the choice of dress for the different events?  If anyone has used rent the runway before, I’d be interested to hear how that went as well.

Too bad about the gray one because it's my favorite dress (in a smaller size, of course)! I prefer the black one over the floral print.

I don't like the black dress at all, the neckline doesn't balance with the cutouts and the bottom is a little too loose. It would look better if it was tighter and had a different neckline IMO. The blue dress I LOVE and think it would be perfect for a summer wedding.

Would it be cost effective to have it taken in? The gray one. I just don't like the cute outs on the black dress, they dont seem right. Maybe it is the what the other girl said the neckline. not sure. But atleast you look good in it.=) Blue is my fav and perfect for a summer wedding.

I like the blue one for events such as a wedding, and the black one is fantastic for going out.

Also, you're in great shape! Have you been doing anything extra?

I cannot believe you walked out of the store and did not buy that beautiful one shoulder dress !
That's a keeper!

Thanks for all the comments!

I actually did buy both the black dress and the blue one shoulder dress. I figure I'll try them on again this week and make my final "to keep or not to keep" decision. I can always return them if they don't work.

The black dress is actually nicely fitted on the bottom. It might be a little big at the top, but I may see if I can take it in a notch.

As for the lovely too big gray dress - unfortunately, it just wouldn't work to take in b/c of the fabric. Plus, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with an open back and no front support...

And finally - for my new best friend Cyn ;) I did actually loose a few pounds recently - somewhat due to stress at work and little time to eat and somewhat due to the beautiful spring weather and more time to get outside and be active. Maybe I'll write an upcoming post with more details. Thanks for the compliment!!

I like them both. Of course for different events. And how fun to see you from a different angle!

I adore the first two! I'm with you on the gray one--not a keeper.

I'm glad you are considering both the black and blue ones! Both are fabulous fancy dresses to have.

I think you need to keep them both!

You have great sassy style :)

Love the first two dresses, but I have a question- how do you shop in THOSE shoes?!?! My feet would die. I'm impressed. :)

Actually my most favorite of the 3 is the last one like a little olive green/heather gray. I especially love the back. Though I think all 3 dresses run a bit large on you, especially the one shoulder one. Maybe it looks so in the pic. And as much as I love the sexy LBD, it is not meant for your slim and elegant body, it requires a few more curves perhaps I don't know. It looks so. But I am looking forward to future posts to see what you actually purchased and how you actually wore it.

By the way, I discovered both RENT THE RUNAWAY and Wear Today/Gone Tomorrow this year. I have been very close to rendint a fun, sparkly, designer dress from both of these websites but ultimately didn't because even their rental prices are expensive and what if they don't fit me correctly. I had a lot of weddings this summer, and ultimately I chose to buy new dresses which I'd OWN in the future. But I would like to rent in the future from any of these websites. ;-) I know a couple of girls that do it all the time and are very happy with RTR. But then again they are smaller then me, like the typical size 0-2, sample sizes. LOL
