Fashion Rules

DSCF3866

Skirt: Moda Int’l.  Top: Express.  Bracelet: Forever XXI.  Necklace: some random little jewelry shop in NYC.  Crochet clutch: thrifted.  Shoes: Michael Kors.

For curvier-hipped women, it’s typically suggested that darker colors be worn on the bottom and lighter colors be worn on top.  Oh well – I don’t feel like playing by the rules today!  I say, hippie women of the world unite!

What fashion “rules” do you break?

Hehe, I wear light on the bottom all the time too. Its kind of a dumb rule hehe.

That outfit looks really cute on you! It's all about a good fit/cut!

I'm also pear shaped and I often break the rule that you're supposed to wear longer sweaters/tops. Imo, my sweaters are most flattering when they hit the top of my hipbone (j crew hip length), not lower on the hips or covering the butt. Longer sweaters seem to emphasize the size difference between my waist and hips, in a bad way, as opposed to a sexy hourglass way! I also wear wide leg trousers (though not as often anymore), because I like the fact that they give a long line from waist to feet. I like rules in general, but it's all about modifying (or ignoring) them to suit your body, style, etc.

white b4 memorial day... cropped pants 5'5"... flats 5'5"... etc, etc. i wore a pair of thrifted Vera Bradley cropped pants today and the girl walking in the RR behind me said "are those VB's?" yep. "i have that purse pattern. i don't think i could pull those off in pants" yeah me either. "ahe who cares right?" AMEN SISTER!

This looks very chic on you, no matter the rules!
I am only 5'2" and was told that cropped pants make us petites look shorter, but I have a pair anyway and I love to wear them with my heels! Plus, I've been told that one should not wear horizontal stripes, but I will never give up my breton top! Ever!
